A superb 19th century Ash chest of drawers by cabinet makers John Taylor & Sons of Edinburgh.

Three long graduated drawers below two short, all original gilt brass drawer pulls and escutcheons, ash drawer linings, original locks.

John Taylor founded the business in 1825 in West Thistle Street, Edinburgh. He then moved to the more prominent position of 109 to 110 Princes Street Edinburgh when his Son joined the business.  In 1852 John Taylor and Sons were appointed ‘Cabinet makers and Upholsterers to Her Majesty the Queen’. Their Rosemount Cabinet Works at Gardner’s Court were established around 1857 and they continued trading from Princes Street until they went into liquidation in 1945.
