A Kaiser Idell model no 6556 desk light, designed by Christian Dell.

Unusual to find one in factory applied white.

Germany early 1930s.

These lamps are something I've collected, lived with and dealt in for over thirty years, they are a design classic in their aesthetic and purity of ethos.

Christian Dell (1893–1974) was a German silversmith and industrial designer who played a formative role in shaping the Bauhaus movement. From 1922 to 1925, Dell served as the foreman of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar, he worked along side Walter Gropius. Upon leaving The Bauhaus, Dell channeled his energy into lighting design. The KAISER Idell lamps, produced by Gebr. Kaiser & Co remain one of his greatest design achievements.
