A diminutive bevelled plate mirror wrapped in early 18th century "Florentine work" or "Bargello" flamestitch fabric.
Height 20in (51cm).
Width 12.5in (32cm).
Depth 1.75in (4.5cm).
Bargello work was particularly popular during the Italian Renaissance, embroidered in Florence, hence being called Florentine work. This type of work is also called Flamestitch, Irish stitch or Point d'Hongire.
