1930s Schroder Escolux Desk Lamp

A Bauhaus era "Schroder Escolux" desk light.

Highly original example, factory paint and switch, rewired with three core fabric covered cable.

The Beleuchtungerkorperfabrik Schroder & Co, (lighting fixture factory) was founded in 1895 as Gerbruder Schroder (brothers Schröder). Lamps were produced under the brand name Escolux such as this one and Esco.

The Schroder company was located in Neheim-Husten, the light capital of Germany. Many other famous companies were or are also located in this town. Among others: Hillebrand, Kaiser Leuchten, Leclaire & Schäfer, Gebrüder Cosack, Hustadt-Leuchten, Baum Leuchten, Cöppicus-Schulte & Bongard, Dame & Co., Bankamp Leuchten and Honsel Leuchten.
