A 19th Century Wrought Iron Club Fender
A wrought iron club fender of large scale.
The buttoned oil cloth seat pads raised on vertical supports centred by worked wrought iron branchs with open leaves to both front panels and the returns.
Indistinclly stamped "Best.... e... st " & "R S & S" with a stamp of a "Crown" denoting crown iron or merchant iron, the "Best Best Best" denotes the highest quality of iron avaialable.
English, Birmingham, Circa 1890.
Provenance: Bridehead, Dorchester.
length of front including seat pads 6ft 5”.
Height 25” including seat pads.
Depth 25”.
Internal dimensions: 19”3/4 deep x 67” wide.
Seat pads are 9” deep at the front and 8” at the return.
Opening to the front frieze 24” wide x 18” tall.
