A faux rosewood painted pine chiffonier.
The two door base flanked by doric columns with slim drawer above, surmounted by a single shelf with steel X supports below the triangular pediment with cresting, this upper section has a slight warp which we chose to leave rather than lose some of the original paint.
The completely original condition of this is piece is remarkable, remnants of the naive faux rosewood painted finish can still be seen to both side panels, the scumble used to seal has crystallized over the majority of the paint and has acquired the most wonderful patina, a light single coat of clear wax has been applied after being gently conserved in house.
Scottish circa 1800.
