A double sided cast iron architectural element featuring the symbolic skull and crossed bones of the reflection of our reality that is “Memento Mori”. This symbolism is seen on many gravestones in Edinburgh and one inscribed 1746 in St Cuthbert's churchyard bears a very close resemblance to this casting.

Scottish, 18th century but newly cast.
