Ebonised hardwood with gilt line decoration.
Exceptionally original, untouched and showing no restoration or repair.
The chairs have a clear resemblance to designs by Jones commissioned by Alfred Morrison for the interiors and furniture at Eynsham Hall, Oxfordshire, work on the hall was carried out from 1872 to 1874, by the London firm of Jackson & Graham.
Examples of this suite of furniture are held in the permanent collection of the V&A.
