A carved statuary marble figure of a young Jesus on matching marble pedestal.
The figure wearing is a ” Tunica “, a male robe of the period.
Losses to the hand, one finger, the bridge of the nose and the robe.
The pedestal richly carved with Anthemion to the upper section, fluted central section, the base with stiff leaf decoration.
Inscription beside the figures left ankle “DILIGES DEUM TUUM”
“EX TOTO CORDE TUO ET PROXIMUM TUUM SICUT TE IPSUM”.

Makers mark to rear of inscription, C.P.MARCHESI.F 1846.
Provenance; formally property of Sir Henry Mather Jackson of White Castle, later bequeathed to Haberdashers Girls School, Monmouth S.Wales.
