E.W.Pugin Library Steps
A set of painted library steps designed by E.W.Pugin (11 March 1834 – 5 June 1875) for the "Church of Our Lady of reconciliation de la Salette", Eldon Street, Liverpool.
The church was designed by Pugin and was built between 1859-60. These steps formed part of the original interior fittings.
We have endeavoured to conserve as much of the original painted finish, there are paint splatters to the surface which we've left alone rather than loose the original painted finish.
The top tread has been changed at some time in the past, there is also evidence of it being used as a saw horse to the side of one rear leg.
Purchased from a private collection in Liverpool.
