Solid backsplat of baluster form supporting a flat top rail above front square tapering legs and sabre rear.
Truly exceptional example, beautiful form to the entire chair.
Scottish circa 1790.
Sometimes known as the Astley Cooper Chair. It was the invention of Sir Astley Paston Cooper (1768-1841), surgeon and anatomist.
