The wide upholstered frame raised on turned mahogany legs with brass castor, folding hinged & extending pine bed frame with screw in turned mahogany legs, three down filled cushions.

Butler advertised this chair as : 'Upon the best and most approved principle forming a handsome easy chair, and is with great ease transformed into a Tent Bed, with Furniture and Bedding complete'.

Thomas Butler is recorded as manufacturing furniture from about 1787 to 1814 and is considered to be one of the leading makers of campaign furniture.
