A low Oak Library reading table in the Gothic manner, designed and manufactured for the Birmingham central Library.
The Library was built in 1882 & designed by architect John Henry Chamberlain (June 1831-Oct 22 1883) working largely in the Victorian Gothic Style.
The building and contents suffered substantial damage after a fire broke out in January 1879, eventually rebuilt on the same site with an additional renaissance style reading room designed again by Chamberlain.
The building was demolished in 1974
