A Pair of George III Console Tables

Ref: 14429

Sold.

The rectangular marble tops above a central marble tablet to the frieze, raised on square tapering legs with marble corner blocks and spade foot.

The frames differ only by one having a "fluted" and moss coloured paste inlaid frieze, the other has a "Greek key" to the frieze with the same work carried through to the returns of both frames and legs.

This type of Stucco and Scagliola work to the bases and the marble is occasionally referred to as "Bossi work" or Bossi Inlay" after the Italian artisan Pietro Bossi.

We have carried out minimum intervention conservation and restoration to the marble and the bases were required.

English, late 18th-early 19th century.

Price is for the pair, we have another very similar console table in stock reference number :14236.
