A scale model of a “Liverpool” or “Mersey Flat”.
Intricate but naive construction, original painted finish.
Brass plaques to the rear of the hull, one inscribed ” Lassel” the other “Liverpool “.
The nickname ” Flat ” comes from the flat bottomed hull made to traverse the shallow sections of the Mersey and surrounding canals.
Late 19th Century.
We assume the sails have been replaced in the 20th century.
