Sold.

A ebonised and glazed Silkworm display case.

The label "Chenilles Mortes de la Flacherie" is interesting. It translates as "Silkworms Dead from the Flacherie". I think the test tubes contain some of those casualties.

Flacherie was a disease that caused great problems to the French silk industry in 1854. Fortunately, Louis Pasteur was on hand to pioneer treatments like appropriate hygiene, good ventilation and quarantine of infected worms.

Not only did Pasteur save the French silk industry but his silkworm work paved the way for the later study of contagious diseases in humans. So,a historic tableau with very little damage; most likely, early 20th century and full of eye-catching silkworm and moth specimens
