A Ceylonese specimen wood table after a design by Thomas King.
The hexagonal top is centred by a swirl of specimen woods, including palm, satinwood and various specimens of ebony, with a roundel to the centre surrounded by chevron banding and a frieze drawer on a scrolled foliate base. There are losses to the specimen wood inlay.
The design is published in Thomas King's The Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, London, 1829.
