Stained & Leaded window repairs and conservation
Drew Pritchard Ltd has a wealth of expertise in all aspects of stained glass, leaded lights and historic glass and our work is highly respected by the church authorities and conservation bodies in England and Wales.

We are a team of skilled restorers-conservators with Drew Pritchard's experience at the fore. Our leading and glazing skills are to the highest standards demanded. When making repairs or replacing panels, we take the greatest care to match the original glass in age and glass type and carry an extensive stock of recovered panes for this purpose. To ensure historical accuracy the painting and firing techniques we use are all traditional and our highly experienced artist can restore any type of painted glass panel that has been damaged or lost due to accident, age or vandalism. In all historical and ecclesiastical restorations and conservations we use non-ferrous metals and lime mortar where applicable.

We are fully insured for public and product liability and comply with all Health & Safety regulations regarding removal and restoration of lead based products.

restorations Re-Leading

Stained glass panels which are damaged or have deteriorated through age need full or partial re-leading. They also benefit from re-sealing to make them water-tight, and fitting of traditional reinforcement bars to make them strong.

The leading techniques we use have changed little in 1000 years. We can also carry out brass came and foil-and-solder work, which is more commonly found in America than Europe.

restorations Glass Matching

We take great care to match the original stained glass when making repairs and replacing panels.

Many types of antique glass are still produced with which to obtain a perfect match and we also have our own extensive stocks of recovered panes.

Painting

We can restore any type of painted and/or stained glass panel - even when parts of it are missing or badly broken.

The painting and firing techniques we use are all traditional, to ensure historical accuracy.

restorations Removal & Refitting

Removing and fitting antique stained glass windows is a delicate and skilled task. We have many years of experience in this area, including work on very large church windows and architectural structures such as domes.

restorations On Site Repairs

In some cases we can repair minor damage to stained glass windows economically and effectively without removing whole windows.

restorations Anti-Vandal Screens

We have wide experience of fitting protective screens to guard against vandalism and accidental damage. We generally use high grade polycarbonate sheet, which provides excellent protection whilst maintaining the full visual effects of each window.

restorations Alterations

We can alter virtually any stained glass panel to make it larger, smaller, or to add or remove features. For example:

* Fitting new borders.
* Re-setting feature panels in new windows
* Removing or replacing inscriptions on commemorative windows (see picture left).
